EVENTS AND ACTIVITIES

Author Night – Hear from a local author at this event held at school during our SLP Read$ fundraiser.

Book Fair – Held during February conferences, families can purchase books for their child or fulfill an item from a teacher wish list; the proceeds provide books for the media center, classrooms, and student birthdays.

Community Cash – Handled by the treasurer, PTO participates in community fundraising programs such as Parkway Pizza’s Dine Out for Schools Night.

Display Case – Using lots of creativity, volunteers create a welcoming and whimsical display in the main entrance hallway.

Family Fun Night – An annual all-school get-together with fun activities including a DJ and dancing, games, virtual reality, crazy hair, henna tattoos, arts and crafts, plus a free pizza dinner. (Held at SLP Middle School)

Fifth Grade Celebration – PTO volunteers organize refreshments and recognition of graduating families at the end of the year.

June Jamboree – A fun annual tradition on the last day of school full of activities for kids including field games, dancing, dunk tank, water games, bubble soccer, and more.

Math Night – A fun night at school full of challenging math games and puzzles for all ages.
PTO Meeting – A chance to connect with other parents, hear from a guest speaker, and learn about PTO events,

efforts, and ways to get involved.

School Spirit Wear – Susan Lindgren and SLP spirit wear is sold to promote school spirit.

Schoolyard Garden – This group of volunteers teaches students about healthy food and how it grows, sustainability and ecology, using our schoolyard garden for real-life lessons. They also plan the Schoolyard Garden Party, held at the start of school, when our community gets together to celebrate the summer bounty of our schoolyard garden and learn about gardening and planting.

SLP Read$ – Our annual fundraiser helps pay for student field trips and other enrichment opportunities as well as PTO activities. Students collect donations from family and friends, inspired by a focus on reading.

Student Directory – Volunteers create and manage an online directory accessible to all school families.
Student Showcase Fair – A spring event that gives Susan Lindgren students an opportunity to work on a project,

individually or in groups, and display their creative spark . (Held at ROC). Click HERE for 2022 information
Teacher and Staff Appreciation – Volunteers arrange staff meals during conference days (twice a year)

and fun activities during National Teacher Appreciation Week in May.

Welcome Committee - Volunteers welcome students to school on the first day with positive chalk messages and cheerful greetings, as well as provide school tours to new and prospective families.

Yearbook The PTO provides a free yearbook to every student and this group collects pictures and coordinates layout and printing.
